Day one of the Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket gets underway today with all eyes on the feature race at 15:40, the Somerville Tattersall Stakes. The Richard Hannon-trained Havana Gold is a solid favourite for this Group 3 race at current odds of 10/11, while another who has attracted some support is the Clive Cox-trained Well Acquainted who is now 5/1 (from 6/1).
One notably eventful race for market movers is the 15-runner Nursery Handicap at 14.35 where Millers Wharf has moved significantly in the betting. Also trained by Hannon and ridden by Richard Hughes, Millers Wharf is now 7/1 (from 12/1). One who has gone in the opposite direction in the betting is Marhaba Malayeen. This Kevin Ryan trained horse has been pushed out to 33/1 (from 16/1).
Elas Diamond is a big mover in the listed event at 15.10. Jeremy Noseda’s filly has been smashed into 11/1 (from 20/1), with leading jocley Frankie Dettori booked for the ride. Elsewhere on the Newmarket card in the staying listed contest at 16.15, Dettori is riding the solid favourite Cavalryman who is trading at 11/4. In the same race, Lordofthehouse has been well backed and is now 12/1 (from 18/1).
