QPR v Swansea City Match Preview

Mark HughesQPR stayed up on the last day of the season despite losing to a last gasp goal which presented Manchester City with the title. After the match Mark Hughes said his side (Evens to win the match) will never be in that position again and they start this season against Swansea who enjoyed a better first season in the Premier League.

QPR are unbeaten against Swansea in their last five meetings. Swansea have never won in 20 previous trips to QPR (11/5 to win with a clean sheet) in all competitions, 17 of them in league competition. Rangers have hit seven goals without reply in their last two games at Loftus Road against the Swans.

The Hoops have never won any of their four previous opening Premier League fixtures, drawing one and losing the other three and have alternated between home victories and away defeats over their last 11 league matches. QPR had nine players sent off last season, the equal-most for a Premier League campaign alongside Sunderland in 2009-10.

The Swans (14/5 to win the match) are perennial slow starters and have lost their last six opening day fixtures. Their last win was a 1-0 home triumph over Tranmere at the start of the 2005-06 campaign. City lost only once in their final five league games of last season.
