Home advantage to tip Ireland over the line?

Republic of Ireland 23/10 | Draw 7/4 |  Denmark 6/4

Two teams, evenly matched, with it all to play for. This really could come down to who wants it more... and the Boys in Green aren't known as the 'Fighting Irish' for nothing!

With three wins, three draws and a loss in their last seven games they come up against a Denmark team who are unbeaten in ten, and in Cristian Eriksen, they have one of the best midfielders in Europe, if not the world! However, if there is a flaw in the armour of the marauding Vikings it may be their away form:  Away from home they have won three, drawn two, and lost four of their last nine, which suggests a certain vulnerability away from HQ.

It's likely that Denmark will go for the win from the off, knowing an away goal could prove the difference as Ireland have struggled to score more than one at home, with four of the Republic of Ireland’s last seven home games seeing fewer than two goals in total. However, assuming Denmark do come out to play, then Ireland certainly have the pace to hit them on the break, which could see an interesting chess match between the managers. That being the case, expect the wily O'Neill to come out trumps there!

Possible Starting Elevens:

Denmark arrive with a fully-fit squad, whilst Ireland have injuries to James McCarthy, Richard Keogh and Sean Maguire, with Robbie Elliot also a major concern.

Ireland XIRandolph; Ward, Clark, Duffy, Christie; McClean, Arter, Meyler, Hendrick, Brady; Murphy

Denmark XI: Schmeichel; Ankersen, Kjaer, Bjelland, Larsen; Eriksen, Delaney, Kvist; Poulsen, Jorgensen, Sisto

What We Sayin’?

WOWSERS, what a game to call! This is so close it beggars belief. However, if the 12th man have their way (and the footballing gods want to issue a little dose of karma) then Ireland will get through - just!

Republic of Ireland and Denmark have each won two, drawn three, and lost two of their last seven encounters with one another - we can see Ireland upset the balance in their favour with a late, late goal to take this 2-1 (12/1). If you're a real masochist, the Eriksen to score first and the Republic to win 2-1 is 110/1... just sayin'! The mercurial Dane is  3/1 to score at anytime.
