Webb SimpsonLast season’s second place finisher on the U.S Money List, Webb Simpson will take a one shot lead into the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday (Webb Simpson 7/4 to win). Simpson has played solid golf all week and finds himself on 14-under par after a round of 69 yesterday. He is one shot ahead of  Ryan Moore and D.A. Points and is two shots better off than the surging Rory McIlroy and Nick Watney (Nick Watney 7/1 to win).

McIlroy has a chance to return to the summit of the world rankings on Sunday and after a superb round of 66 on Saturday he is in a great position to win this event for the second time in three years (Rory McIlroy 5/2 to win). Rickie Fowler and Stewart Cink are a shot further back on eleven-under par with good recent records here but will know they need an almost flawless final round to get the victory here (Stewart Cink 33/1 to win).

Simpson is a devout Christian and has been using the bible this week to ease his nerves. He has admitted to reading Judges, Chapters 6 and 7 and studied the story of Gideon, a young man in the tribe of Menessah, who was called by God to help free the people of Israel. “ The picture I look at is that God uses the weak to make his name look great.” Simpson said. “Again, I felt pretty weak and helpless the other day with that tee time, being my home crowd, my home course, all the pressure was kind of mounting, and a buddy of mine texted me that story, and it truthfully calmed me down.” Simpson will be hoping for similar inspiration on Sunday as he looks to ease his nerves and win the third PGA Tour event of his career.
