WGC Bridgestone Invitational Preview

Adam ScottAdam Scott will be desperate to recover from his Open heartache by reclaiming the title he won 12 months ago here at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational (Adam Scott 16/1 to win). Scott was in the lead for nearly all of the weekend at Royal Lytham before a closing run of four bogeys on the trot gave the title to Ernie Els and left Scott still searching for his first Major triumph. He likes it round the South Course at Firestone and if he can continue the play that saw him take a four shot lead into the final round a fortnight ago then he will be hard to stop.

Tiger Woods is the overwhelming favourite for the tournament (Tiger Woods 5/1 to win). With an incredible seven wins here and a further three top five finishes it’s easy to see why, however on his last two trips here he has failed to break the top 30, showing why some punters may be sceptical about his chances at this price. Luke Donald will also have his fair share of support this week with three top ten finishes in this tournament in his last six appearances, including a runners-up finish last year (Luke Donald 13/1 to win).

Rickie Fowler has shown some great form this season on the PGA Tour and looks to really have come of age with his victory at the Wells Fargo Championship. He finished in a tie for second here last year and has the capabilities to challenge the very best on this course (Rickie Fowler 30/1 to win). There’s plenty of top class players available at high prices this week with the likes of Major winners Martin Kaymer and Charl Schwartzel at 80/1 and 66/1 respectively. Louis Oosthuizen is also not afraid of the big stage and with a ninth placed finish here in 2010 he could be another lively outsider ready to win once again (Louis Oosthuizen 45/1 to win).
