Paul Messara: Zero chance Black Caviar will lose

Black CaviarPaul Messara, Australian trainer of King's Stand contender Ortensia, believes the British racing community has severely underestimated the capabilities of unbeaten sprinter Black Caviar, ahead of her appearance in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot later this month.

The Bel Esprit mare (4/9 To Win The Diamond Jubilee Stakes) is unbeaten in a record 21 starts, and in the past year has beaten 2009 King's Stand Stakes winner Scenic Blast twice, each time by more than seven lengths. Speaking to Racing UK, Messara commented: "She only needs to be 80 per cent to win here. I'm sure they won't give her a hard time, but from an Australian point of view, I'd love it if they got stuck into her and she won by half the track. Look, there is no chance she'll get beat if she arrives without problems. Zero. These guys over here are kidding themselves, it is almost a joke."

Messara himself runs Ortensia (6/1 To Win King's Stand Stakes) in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, a horse who saw off a field of eight Group 1 winners to claim the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan during the Dubai World Cup meeting in March. 9/2 Favourite for the race is Roger Charlton's Bated Breath (11/2 To Win The Diamond Jubilee Stakes), but Messara us confident his charge can put in a performance, saying: "I think the English like a local favourite and I'm a foreigner with a foreign horse, I think the form in Dubai will stand up as Sole Power came out the other day and could have won."
