Queally in Noble Mission to overturn Michelangelo

Social Sharing:

GoodWoodJohn Gosden and William Buick are bidding for a remarkable tenth Group success since June with Michelangelo in the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodood on Tuesday.

The Galileo colt has been in impressive form this season. Unraced as a two-year-old, the patience shown by connections seems to be paying off with a stylish win coming last time out in the Tattersalls Millions 3-y-o Cup at Newmarket added to a listed win at Goodwood prior to that, results that suggest Michelangelo (5/4 In Gordon Stakes Betting) will have every chance of securing a first Group win here.

In his way will be Noble Mission (7/2 In Gordon Stakes Betting). The much talked about full brother to Frankel has had perhaps unreasonably high expectation placed on his shoulder, being a different proposition entirely to his sibling. That being said, he does have form to suggest he can compete here.

He ran well behind stablemate Thomas Chippendale at Ascot over soft ground at Group Two level, showing enough to indicate he can compete here, something that Michelangelo has not yet proven. Gosden’s colt is also untried at this trip, and whilst there is little to indicate he will struggle, Noble Mission could prove the value bet on day one of Glorious Goodwood 2012.
